Construction Inspector (Non-Certified): Baton Rouge, LA

Providence, a multidiscipline environmental and engineering consulting firm with corporate headquarters in Baton Rouge and offices in Austin, Houston, and Houma, seeks a talented individual for our Baton Rouge office to assist with construction related projects in the Baton Rouge area.

Responsibilities and Duties of these Positions Include:

  • Conduct on-site monitoring of various construction activities
  • Perform necessary field testing in support of various construction activities
  • Monitor and ensure schedule performance and quality workmanship of contractors.
  • Work closely with the contractor, architect, civil engineer and associated consultants
  • Review change proposals, proposal requests, requests for information, supplemental instructions and other contract documentation as required on behalf of the client's interests.
  • Review and approve contractor payment requests.
  • Attend local meetings, approval meetings, conferences on behalf of client. Document and take action on items in client's interests.
  • Serve as an information resource by coordinating client's work, participating in construction meetings, providing ongoing feedback, and coordinating project punch list and close-out.
  • Prepare construction completion reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Providence requires the Construction Inspector be available to perform various construction testing activities at the construction site. This will involve out of office work in various weather conditions. 


  • Ability to adhere to safety requirements
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and ability to work at elevated heights
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to travel with some overnight travel
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to interface with clients and facility personnel
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record

Required Experience

  • High School or enrollment in a Technical College
  • 0-3 years' experience with construction background is preferred
  • Strong consultative, organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills
  • Ability to read engineering drawings maps is preferred
  • Successful candidates will be high energy, a strong decision maker, and have the interpersonal skills necessary to complete the job ensuring construction is completed accurately per client's specs, and in a timely manner

Salary: Commensurate with experience
