Air Quality Consultant 

Providence, a full-service multidiscipline environmental and engineering consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated and mid to senior level Air Quality Consultant to support the Texas air practice. The selected consultant must work out of one of our Texas offices (Houston, Austin or Dallas).  The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with air permitting as well as some experience with project management and business development. The selected consultant will work within Providence to provide outstanding air quality compliance support for our clients, and to leverage this knowledge to attract new clients.


  • Prepare major and minor air permit applications (New Source Review, Title V, and state permits)
  • Conduct air emissions calculations
  • Conduct state and federal (NSPS, NESHAP, MACT) regulatory applicability analyses and compliance evaluations for industrial processes
  • Conduct with multiple air quality permitting and compliance projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations
  • Prepare annual compliance reports (Title V Semi-Annual Monitoring reports, Annual Compliance Certifications, and emissions inventories)
  • Manage projects
  • Clearly communicate project status and potential hurdles both internally and externally


The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability requirements of this position:

  • BS or MS in any engineering or science field
  • At least seven (7) - ten (10) years of professional experience in industry, environmental consulting, environmental administering agency work, or similar
  • Record of increasing skill and responsibility at previous jobs
  • Excellent technical abilities, with emphasis on air permitting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel)
  • Possess the ability to coordinate and work effectively in a team setting
  • EI or PE certification preferred
  • Experience conducting air quality dispersion modeling (AERMOD, ISC3, Screen3, etc.), a plus
  • Ability to adhere to safety requirements
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight travel (<10%)
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities
  • A current TWIC card is a plus, but being able to obtain one within 30 calendar days of starting position is required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
