Environmental Field Technician: Houston, Texas 

Providence, a multidiscipline environmental and engineering consulting firm with offices in Houston, Austin, Dallas, and Houma and corporate headquarters in Baton Rouge is seeking an environmental technician for our Houston office.  

Responsibilities: Responsible for conducting facility site inspections, sampling, audits, and trainings. Responsible for generating accurate and complete documentation of fieldwork, inluding laboratory chain of custodies, facility recordkeeping requirements, state and federal reporting requirements, etc. Responsible for maintence and upkeep of air and water monitoring equipment. Responsible for assisting with the construction, operation, and maintenance of stationary continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMs), mobile ambient air monitoring stations, and water monitoring stations.


  • Ability to adhere to safety requirements.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel with some overnight travel.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to interface with clients and facility personnel.
  • Must have a TWIC card or be able to obtain one within 30 calendar days of starting position.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Skills and Experience:

  • Should have strong electro/mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision.
  • Must be able to effectively problem solve.
  • Should have knowledge of common engineering concepts, practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Must have ability to read, interpret, create, and assemble from drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and sketches.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills including the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word, and other technical programs.
  • Experience with Gas Chromatographs is a plus Certified NORM surveyor is a plus.

Education / Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Two-year technical or BS degree preferred


  • Commensurate with experience
